Oncology
The idea of this textbook is to support the preparation of medical students in a new specialty for them (such as oncology in medical universities in Bulgaria), by creating a stable foundation for their knowledge.
As our knowledge of oncology expands in accordance with the scientific discoveries of our time and treatment paradigms change accordingly, determining the ideal method for training medical students in this all-encompassing discipline becomes increasingly important.
Medical Oncology (Volume I)
Consideration needs to be given to which elements of complex, multidisciplinary patient care should receive the greatest emphasis in the time-limited curriculum. It is appropriate to question what medical students need to know at each stage of their education in terms of achieving academic and subsequently clinical benchmarks.
Therefore, developing a curriculum that provides an adequate foundation is key. In this way, all students will develop lasting knowledge and skills that will enable them to develop as good clinicians.
A cornerstone for achieving this ambitious but extremely important goal is the oncology textbook. Although the study of oncology did not appear in the curriculum of medical students for many years, it is currently included in the programs of some of the medical universities in Bulgaria.
