EVALUATION OF FRUSTRATION TOLERANCE OF THE PERSONALITY C THE CLINICOPSYCHOLOGICAL AND PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC PRACTICE
(Psychodiagnostic Monograph)
"ASSESSMENT OF THE FRUSTRATION TOLERANCE OF PERSONALITY IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC PRACTICE (Psychodiagnostic monograph)" by Prof. Pavlina Petkova and Dr. Kaloyan Kukov
The monograph by Prof. P. Petkova and Dr. K. Kukov analyzes one of the key tools in clinical and forensic psychology. It covers 250 pages and is structured in 4 chapters; which refer to the theoretical concepts, the diagnostic possibilities of the instrument, the research in Bulgaria and the Bulgarian adaptation of the test. In addition, a catalog of the individual situations in the test is attached, which illustrates and supports the training.
The privilege and courage to write this review is derivable from the fact; that the Rosenzweig test is a major tool in my forensic psychiatry dissertation. The instrument is markedly projective and provides significantly more information than the standard examination and psychiatric examination.
Examining frustration tolerance in different dimensions – extrapunitive, intrapunitive and punitive, as well as the relationship of frustration to the person and the situation, the test gives us extremely valuable information about the individual's reaction in a situation of severe difficulties, respectively frustration.

The authors Pavlina Petkova and Kaloyan Kukov are prominent clinical psychologists and psychodiagnostics, which is evident from the fabric of the constructed monograph. They have a vast experience of their own with the instrument, which is evident not only in the narration of the theoretical and historical construct; but also in the transformation of the own data into a modern reading of the test established in practice.
Of particular value is the analysis and refinement of test reliability and validity in light of the statistical tools of the 21st century. In this section, the authors prove that Rosenzweig's test has high reliability in the Bulgarian population cohort they studied.
A special emphasis of the monograph is its practical applicability in the training of students and specialists with an interest in clinical psychology.
In conclusion, this large and thorough research paper fills a gap in our scientific literature in clinical psychology. Its usefulness in training and practice is undoubted and will be proven in the future.
My assessment of the merits of the monograph is unequivocally positive, and I trust that the authors will continue their efforts in their educational vocation and mission as educators.
