Literature and textbooks on Endodontics
Endodontics - essence
Endodontics encompasses the study (practice) of the basic and clinical sciences of the normal dental pulp, the etiology, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases and injuries of the dental pulp, along with associated endodontic conditions. From a clinical point of view, endodontics involves either preserving part or all of the dental pulp in good condition, or removing the entire pulp in case of irreversible disease. This includes teeth with irreversibly inflamed and infected pulp tissue. Endodontics includes not only treatment in the presence of dental pulp, but also includes the preservation of teeth that have not responded to non-surgical endodontic treatment, or for teeth that have developed new lesions, for example, when re-root canal treatment is required, or endodontic surgery. Endodontic treatment is one of the most common procedures. If the dental pulp (containing nerves, arterioles, venules, lymphatic tissue, and fibrous tissue) becomes diseased or injured, endodontic treatment is needed to save the tooth.
