Clinical urology
T. Patrashkov, P. Panchev
The development of urology in recent years, it has been characterized by the implementation of a number of new methods. Many of the diseases of urogenital system, which in the past were treated by open surgery, today are successfully removed by the new apparatus and instrumental methods of examination and treatment.
IN urology for the first time in clinical practice, extracorporeal lithotripsy was implemented in the treatment of kidney stones kidney and ureter. In practice, the cherished dream of mankind to treat surgical diseases by non-surgical methods was realized. Transurethral surgery in the treatment of diseases of the prostate, bladder and urethra has become a routine method in urological practice. The problems of kidney transplantation, cystectomy for bladder cancer and prostatectomy for prostate cancer are also being successfully developed.
The new methods of diagnosis and treatment have also radically changed the ratio between open operations and less invasive ones that have been successfully applied to benign prostatic hyperplasia, bladder cancer, urethral structures, and kidney and ureteral stones. This made it necessary to change the specialization program for urologists. In the past, a urologist was required to be able to diagnose and operate. Under the new conditions, he must not only operate, but also successfully apply in clinical practice the new technologies of diagnosis and treatment of urological diseases.
Most of the new methods of diagnosis and treatment are missing in the textbooks and manuals of urology published so far. For these reasons, the publication of a new urology manual is urgent and necessary. It is intended for medical students, general practitioners, surgeons, nephrologists and above all for urology specialists.
