INTRODUCTION
Currently, infectious diseases are one of the most dynamically developing areas of clinical medicine. The challenges of the discovery of unknown causative agents, the new and re-emerging infectious diseases and syndromes, the changed epidemiological characteristics of infectious diseases, the extreme need for vaccine prevention, the ever-increasing resistance of bacteria, viruses and parasites have imposed a new concept in pathogenesis, diagnostics, specific prevention and etiological therapy of these socially significant diseases.
The subject of infectious pathology has gone beyond the boundaries established by traditional medicine. Every organ and system can be affected by the infectious process, and every medical specialist in his daily practice is faced with the specific problems of infectious diseases. In view of the interdisciplinary nature of diseases, the aim of the authors was to help future doctors and specialists to understand the essence of individual diseases and to be able to develop a practical approach when working with them.
The textbook is composed of sections, including infectious diseases of various organs and systems in the body. Each nosological unit is examined in detail in terms of etiology, pathogenesis, epidemiology, clinical characteristics, diagnostics, prevention and therapeutic approaches.
