In each of the sections, modern information is presented, adapted to the practical activity and necessary for the professional realization of the students.
In the "Hygiene" section, the following more important issues are discussed: the main elements of the human living environment (air, water, soil) and the positive or negative impact of its factors on health are marked; the role of personal hygiene and a healthy lifestyle in preserving and strengthening the health of adolescents, adults and the elderly; the main harmful effects in dental and pharmaceutical practice and their prevention to optimize the professional environment are considered.
In the section "Foods, nutrition and health" the most important questions concerning the nutrition of modern man and the most significant current aspects of nutrition science are considered.
Emphasis is placed on the role of healthy nutrition and the adverse effects of unbalanced nutrition and contaminated food on health.
The "Epidemiology" section presents the main regularities of the epidemic process as a basis for effective prevention of infectious diseases.
In the private room epidemiology the most significant nosological units of the four main groups of infectious diseases and their prevention are given.
The authors hope that with the acquired professional knowledge, the students will be able to apply the preventive approach in their future work, thus they will have an important role in preserving and strengthening the health of the population.
The authors believe that they have achieved their main goals in writing this textbook, and it will be useful to students and a wider readership, but they will gratefully accept any critical comments, opinions and recommendations for its improvement.
