Handbook of anesthesiology and intensive care

The specialty of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care has undergone a very dynamic development in recent years, which necessitated a fundamental revision of the study aids for students. This is how we came to compile this completely new guide, which aims to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical skills according to the current state of the specialty. The individual chapters were assigned to the leading authors in the respective field. We have tried to convey the basics of anesthesiology and intensive care in the most compact format, fully meeting the requirements of the training course. Modern operating protocols are included, as well as texts dealing with the introduction of ultrasound into anesthesiology, the use of new anesthetics, pain management, and other current topics not previously addressed in previous manuals.
Despite our best efforts, this manual is likely to contain some inaccuracies and omissions. The authors would appreciate any comments and critical comments that would help improve the next edition.
Last but not least, we want to express our gratitude to all those teachers who, before us, have made efforts to establish the specialty.
