Adapted physical activity
Adapted physical activity (APA) is a rapidly growing area of sports science. AFA is a general term for all services and activities that contribute to an active and healthy lifestyle of people with specific needs through physical activity (physical education and sports).
The master's program "Adapted physical activity and sport" started in the academic year 2004-2005. to the Faculty of kinesitherapy, tourism and sports animation (KTTSA) on the initiative of Prof. Maya Nikolova, who is the head of the program until 2017.
Adapted physical activity
is a body of knowledge that covers physical activities performed by people with disabilities. Service provision system guaranteeing the participation of people with disabilities; professional responsibility of practitioners in the field of AFA. A relatively new interdisciplinary field of knowledge in the sports science directory and discipline in higher education.
AFA supports the formation of an attitude of acceptance of individual differences. It fights to improve access to active lifestyles and sports for people with special needs and promotes innovation in the field.
