Occupational therapy for mental health
The textbook is intended for occupational therapy students. Chapters related to the regulatory framework for mental health care, theoretical, are included basics of occupational therapy for mental health, occupational therapy process for persons with mental disorders, therapeutic methods and means - creative activities, training in life and social skills, physical activity for mental health, group therapy. In a separate chapter, ergotherapy for various mental illnesses is considered - for example, in the acute phase of the mental disorder, in severe and chronic mental illnesses, in schizophrenic disorders, in affective disorders and others.
Special attention is paid to engaging clients in productive activities, such as paid work or community service, and fulfilling major life roles. The basic principles of working in a multidisciplinary team and the role of the occupational therapist in it are clarified. Discussion questions, case studies and independent work assignments are included in each topic to actively engage students in the learning process. In the appendix, occupational therapy tools for evaluation in the field of mental health are presented.
The tool can be used not only by students, but also by practicing occupational therapists, as well as other specialists working with persons with psychosocial deviations.
