Classic massage for diseases part 2
In 2005, a general part of a textbook on Massage was printed, intended for the students of the Vasil Levski National Sports Academy. In 2009, "Massage - hygienic, sports, healing and cosmetic" was published.
It contains historical data on massage, physiological foundations of massage, classification, impact, anatomical data on body tissues and the impact of massage on them, description of massage techniques from classical massage, hygienic, sports, healing massage - classical, reflex, eastern massages (Chinese, shiatsu), zone therapy and cosmetic massage.
"Classic massage for diseases. First part" is a routine method of applying massage in the health care system in our country. It describes exemplary methods of massage for injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system, soft tissue injuries, amputation of part of the limbs, postural deformations of the musculoskeletal system, inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the joints, diseases of the respiratory system, gastrointestinal, digestive and metabolic disorders.
A brief description, clinical symptoms and syndromes are given for each disease, which are relevant to the massage, the condition of the skeletal muscles (increased tone, decreased tone, shortened muscles, stretched muscles). Then the tasks of the massage are determined. His methodology is described, which very often includes a preparatory, main and final massage.

An example of the duration of the massage and the number of procedures are given. For the first time in the methodology of classical massage for diseases, massage of the joints is also included, regardless of the fact that they are not directly affected by the disease process.
For the first time in therapeutic massage for muscles with increased tone (spasm), massage is offered using reciprocal innervation and simultaneous positive and negative induction (S. Sherington) - massage is first applied to the muscle with reduced tone, and then to its antagonist with increased tone.
The textbook is aligned with the training program for medical rehabilitators, occupational therapists and kinesitherapists. It can be used by rehabilitators and certified massage therapists.
