The upper limb consists of bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, nerve structures, blood lymphatic vessels, etc. It is a kinematic chain composed of three complex: shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. The three complexes have a complex structure and function. The bony skeleton is made up of 27 bones connected by 19 joints. The hand is related to the whole personality of the person.
She has motor and cognitive activity, and is able to perform any activity. Whichever part of the three complexes is damaged, the entire upper limb suffers. Treatment of fractures of the upper limb is non-operative and operative. Both types of treatment aim to restore the anatomical integrity of the broken bone, and physiotherapy to restore function and work ability. Physiotherapy for bone fractures of the upper limb.
Part Two: Special is divided into 23 chapters.
They are illustrated with 114 figures. For each chapter, the used literary sources are indicated. Data are described for each species breakage, the applied treatment – non-operative, operative and physiotherapy in both types of treatment. Each physiotherapy program is exemplary. It includes the periods of physiotherapy for each type of treatment.
For each period, the purpose of physiotherapy is set, tasks, means and instructions for their application are defined. The professional experience of the authors is evident in the presentation of sample physical therapy programs for each fracture, type of treatment, and physical therapy. They give a clear idea of the behavior of each physiotherapist in the functional recovery of the upper extremity after bone fractures.
The detailed description will facilitate students in the formulation and implementation of physical therapy programs in practice. There is no doubt that the special section on physiotherapy for fractures of the bones of the upper limb will be used by physiotherapy students and specialists.
