Internal Medicine Propaedeutics - Review and Study of the Patient - Volume 1
Internal medicine propaedeutics is a foundation of medical education as it builds basic clinical skills.
These include anamnesis (examination of the patient), physical methods of comprehensive examination, familiarization with all basic laboratory and instrumental diagnostic methods, interpretation of the received information and construction of a diagnosis. The presented textbook combines established concepts in classical methods of diagnosis with the latest achievements in modern medicine.
In Volume 1, the main physical, laboratory and instrumental non-invasive and invasive methods of examination of all organs and systems are included. The studies of the respiratory and cardiovascular system are also presented in detail, including the innovations in the classifications, etiology, pathogenesis and research methods for these diseases.
This enables the sequential implementation of the steps of the diagnostic process and construction of a diagnosis. The release of Volume 2, which will include the remaining systems in the human organism, as well as a systematic presentation of individual diseases.
The significance of the discipline Propaedeutics of internal diseases and the need to present the new achievements in modern internal medicine necessitates, after a 30-year interval, the publication of a new textbook.
It presents the physical research methods, in compliance with classical principles, as well as all available modern diagnostic methods used to build the diagnosis in various diseases and pathological conditions in the field of internal medicine.
The textbook is intended for medical students of the 3rd year, students in subsequent courses, trainee doctors, specialists and young specialists, and teachers.
The textbook is published on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the existence of the Department of propaedeutics of Internal Medicine "Professor Stoyan Kirkovich", Medical University - Sofia, and is dedicated to its founder, his students and followers, and our teachers and colleagues!
