Basics of surgery
The study of general surgery is a mandatory basis for every young surgeon, regardless of his further specialization. This book aims to provide basic knowledge related to patient examination and operative risk assessment, as well as patient preparation for surgery. In addition, asepsis and antisepsis, the organization of work in the operating room, the main surgical manipulations and techniques are described. A wide range of specialists present the characteristics of mechanical wounds, radiation damage, trauma, shock and first aid in acute life-threatening conditions, changes in blood flow and hemostasis, the features of surgical infection and anesthesia in surgical patients. The characteristics of basic conditions related to anesthesia and intensive care are presented - homeostasis, nutrition and metabolism, abdominal compartment syndrome. Special attention is paid to the problems of transplantation, pain, some legal and deontological problems, new technologies in surgery.
