Nevertheless, the idea of social medicine deserves particular attention today, with its intellectual breadth, political and economic depth, and underlying humanism.
These are the values that build science social medicine.
Social medicine as a scientific discipline emerged at the beginning of the 20th century with the development of the industrial revolution, with the main objectives being to identify, analyze and manage the main social and economic factors that influence health, disease and medical practice in order to improve public health .
Today, the understanding of researchers is that public health is a branch of social medicine and is a practical expression of the theoretical propositions and ideas of social medicine.
In conclusion, it can be summarized that social medicine is an engaged, innovative and visionary science whose research achievements can trigger political, economic and social changes necessary to improve the health and well-being of society.
