Social medicine and health promotion: For the specialty "Midwifery", OCS "bachelor"

The creation of the compendium was provoked by the unexpected social isolation in which the COVID-19 pandemic has placed us and by the need to respond quickly and adequately to the questions and needs of students.

COVID-19 has irrevocably rearranged our value system and public order, including in the area of public health. The need for curative and prophylactic care related to the extraordinary epidemiological situation clearly proved that nurses and midwives are the "backbone" of health care.

"The main purpose of the compendium is to introduce you to the discipline and provide information about the role of the midwife in the field of public health. Materials from the lecture course and exercises based on the university's Blackboard platform are included. In Appendix 1. you will find the instructions for your coursework. In addition to the individual test, group submission assignments are set through Blackboard, which is a wonderful opportunity for practical application of what has been learned, as well as for developing the skills to work together. In Appendices 2. to 5. are the short tests to check knowledge, intended for feedback to the teacher at the end of each lecture module.
