Eye Diseases Textbook for Undergraduate Health Care Students - Physician Assistant, Nurse, Midwife
The textbook was approved at a meeting of the Departmental Council of the Department of Medical and Clinical-Diagnostic Activities at the Faculty of Public Health and Healthcare at Ruse University "Angel Kanchev", protocol No. 6/31.05.2023.
This textbook provides basic knowledge in the field of ophthalmology that every health care professional - physician assistant, medical nurse and midwife, so that she can calmly and confidently practice her profession.
About 80% of the information from the world around us is perceived by the eyes. A number of studies prove that missing this important information, people with low vision live shorter lives and suffer from dementia and depression much more often. That's why the expression "keep it like your eyes" exists.
Collaboration between a physician, health care professional, optometrist and optician is of utmost importance for the correct therapeutic intervention of a large number of ophthalmic diseases. Medical professionals have an indispensable role in this team, therefore they must be well trained in the specific diagnostic and therapeutic behavior in ophthalmology, as well as the characteristic features of ophthalmic patients and the visually impaired.
