Imaging diagnostics of odontogenic cysts and tumors in the jaws
The information in our literature cannot be considered sufficient and at a modern level. Based on the literature data and our observations, the solution of diagnostic problems is considered from the point of view of classical X-ray methods, direct digitization of images, computer and magnetic resonance tomography. The general and the specific in the images of these diseases are considered, depending on the localization, developmental features, tissue structures, their relation to the neighboring structures in the jaws, etc., observed by classical and direct digital radiographic methods and techniques. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, which are of primary importance in the study of this part of the human body, are given informatively according to literature data due to our technical equipment at this stage.
X-ray images are a reflection of the development of diseases over time, in the individual, with available general and local reactive capabilities of the body. Other, as yet unexplained, factors influence development. They reflect the state at the time of the study. Therefore, we have included in the exhibition introductory data about the patient, relevant for their development and analysis, such as: frequency, sex, localization, development, dimensions, patho-anatomical and clinical picture. The importance of the data from the anamnesis and the analysis of the images over time, if there are previous imaging studies.
The manual is intended for dentists working in dental offices, who make the first contact with patients and often conduct the first imaging studies, and also for students. The inclusion to each nosological unit of the parts "Differential diagnosis” and “Summary” is intended to facilitate its use. It will have a finished look with the development of sections "Neodontogenic cysts and tumors" and "Tumor-like diseases" in the jaws, with modern informativeness. Imaging diagnosticians are indebted to dentists in this regard.
