Pharmacotherapy and problems of clinical pharmacy – Part I

This edition (part one) discusses fundamental problems and strategies of drug therapy related to the concept of optimal P-drug selection, individualization of drug therapy, monitoring of adverse drug reactions, and assessment of possible clinically significant drug interactions. The principles and results of clinical trials of new drugs are presented in this and other sections, which is important information for those readers who are interested in participating in clinical trials. The principles of treatment of pediatric and geriatric patients are presented separately, as well as the features of therapy in pregnant and lactating women. The following section presents common symptoms and syndromes, such as headache and migraine, pain syndrome in various body disorders, fever, cough syndrome, gastrointestinal disorders and insomnia. Clinical cases are presented for each topic, which build the practical thinking of problem-oriented analysis. A separate section is devoted to specific therapeutic problems in the field of ophthalmology and dermatology, which provide targeted knowledge to the pharmacist when offering OTC and prescribed medications. The book is intended for pharmacy students and specialists in clinical pharmacy, as well as for medical students entering the clinical phase of their training. We hope that this publication will contribute to building a proper understanding of rational drug therapy, following the new treatment strategies and recommendations of international professional organizations reflected in the book.
