In 2005, a general part of a textbook on Massage was printed, intended for students of the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski". It contains historical data on massage, physiological basics of massage, classification, impact, anatomical data on body tissues and the impact of massage on them, description of massage techniques from classical massage, hygienic, sports, therapeutic massage - classical, reflexology, eastern massages (Chinese, shiatsu), zone therapy and cosmetic massage.
„"Classical Massage for Diseases. Part One" is a routine method of applying massage in the healthcare system in our country. It describes exemplary massage methods for injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system, soft tissue injuries, amputation of part of the limbs, postural deformities of the musculoskeletal system, inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the joints, diseases of the respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive systems and metabolic disorders.
For each disease, a brief description, clinical symptoms and syndromes that are important for massage, the condition of the skeletal muscles (increased tone, decreased tone, shortened muscles, stretched muscles) are given. Then the tasks of the massage are determined. Its methodology is described, which very often includes preparatory, main and final massage. An example of the duration of the massage and the number of procedures are given. For the first time, the methodology of classical massage for diseases also includes massage of the joints, even though they are not directly affected by the disease process.
For the first time in therapeutic massage for muscles with increased tone (spasm), a massage is offered using reciprocal innervation and simultaneous positive and negative induction (C. Sherington) - first, massage is applied to the muscle with decreased tone, and then to its antagonist with increased tone.
The textbook is in line with the training program for medical rehabilitators, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. It can be used by rehabilitators and certified massage therapists.
Bulgarian and foreign literary sources were used to write the textbook.
Next comes "Classical Massage for Diseases. Part Two". It contains: massage for neurologic and neurosurgical diseases, injuries to the nervous system, diseases of the peripheral nervous system, demyelinating and degenerative diseases of the nervous system, headaches, disorders with neurological symptoms, surgical and gynecological diseases, and diseases of the skin and hair.
