MASSAGE – basics, classification, types
The textbook "Massage - basics, classifications, types" is intended for physiotherapy students (kinesitherapist, medical rehabilitator) occupational therapist, rehabilitator). Can be used by coaches and physical education teachers.
From the textbook, students will gain knowledge about the history of massage, anatomical and physiological data for individual tissues and systems (skin, muscles, joints, circulatory, lymphatic and nervous systems), the impact of massage on them, classification of massage (hygienic, sports, therapeutic, cosmetic), and techniques of therapeutic massage (classical, reflex, oriental, apparatus).
An updated classification of massage is given. Massage methods and techniques are arranged depending on their impact on body tissues and the human organism. The meaning of concepts and terms in massage is explained, such as: additional and auxiliary; squeezing and squeezing; kneading and kneading.
A number of inaccuracies have been removed, such as: the layering technique is not kneading, but rubbing; the figure eight is stroking, despite the fact that the massage movements are not along the course of the massage lines. New techniques have been added, such as: pulling a strand of hair, kneading the hairy part of the head, rubbing with the forearms of both hands.
The content of the textbook is consistent with the curricula of physiotherapists in Bulgaria. It meets the requirements of the Ministry of Health for the preparation of health professionals for work in the health care system. The textbook was written thanks to the rich Bulgarian, foreign and personal experience. All sincerely made critical comments and recommendations will be taken into account in the next edition.
