Oncology
The idea of this textbook is to support the preparation of medical students in a new specialty for them (such as oncology in medical universities in Bulgaria), by creating a solid foundation for their knowledge.
As our knowledge of cancer expands and treatment paradigms change in line with the scientific discoveries of our time, determining the ideal method for training medical students in this comprehensive discipline is becoming increasingly important.
Medical Oncology (Volume I)
Consideration needs to be given to which elements of complex, multidisciplinary patient care should receive the greatest emphasis in the time-constrained curriculum. It is pertinent to question what medical students need to know at each stage of their education in terms of achieving academic and, subsequently, clinical performance.
Therefore, developing a curriculum that provides an adequate foundation is of key importance. In this way, all students will build lasting knowledge and skills that will allow them to develop as good clinicians.
The cornerstone for achieving this ambitious but extremely important goal is the oncology textbook. Although the study of oncology was not included in the curriculum of medical students for many years, it is now included in the programs of some of the medical universities in Bulgaria.
