Basics of pharmacoeconomics
A Guide for Pharmacy and Medical Students, Pharmacists, Physicians, Economists and Health Management Professionals
The study of drug use and drug usability in modern societies falls into
the scope of the disciplines "Pharmacoepidemiology" and "Pharmacoeconomics" - two highly politicized disciplines [1].
For economic analyzes of drug therapy,
in particular of specific medicinal products, worldwide
scale began to be discussed in the mid-1960s
century, within health economics. The term
"pharmacoeconomics" is announced in a public forum for the first time
time in 1986, during an annual meeting of pharmacists
in Toronto, Canada, when Ray Townsend (Ray Townsend) from
the pharmaceutical company Upjohn (UpJohn), uses
term in your presentation. Since the beginning of the 90s
until the end of the 20th century, the science of "Pharmacoeconomics" survived
flourishing, developing as an independent scientific
discipline within health economics and presupposes
the entry of new medicinal products into the clinic
practice and development of pricing processes and
reimbursement of medicinal products.
