Methodology of teaching mathematics in primary school.
Summary: the lecture course on Mathematics Teaching Methodology in primary school is usually divided into General Methodology and Special Methodology. The general methodology examines the general didactic problems of teaching mathematics in elementary grades, and the special methodology applies the knowledge from the general methodology when studying specific topics of the mathematics curriculum.
In this textbook, topics from the General and Special methodology of mathematics education in primary school have been developed. After each topic, there are questions, tasks and exercises aimed at:
- Check the level of mastery of the content of the relevant topic.
- An opportunity to expand and enrich the knowledge of students - future elementary teachers in the field of mathematics and the methodology of teaching mathematics.
- Building a basis for the application of theoretical ideas - mathematical, didactic and methodical in the actual teaching practice in mathematics in the 1st - 4th grades.
One of the main tasks of the author is to give possible methodological ideas for the acquisition of knowledge, skills and habits among students in elementary mathematics education. The proposed general methodological ideas are in accordance with the curricula and textbooks of mathematics in the Bulgarian school and with the results of conducted theoretical and experimental pedagogical studies. They are illustrated with specific examples from the content of the primary school mathematics course.
The textbook corresponds to the programs of the lecture courses on Methodology of teaching mathematics in primary school, in which students are trained in the specialties Preschool and primary school pedagogy, Primary school pedagogy and a foreign language, Primary and special pedagogy. It is intended for students preparing to become mathematics teachers in 1. – 4. class and can be useful for elementary teachers teaching mathematics.
