Pharmacotherapy for pharmacists
This publication is intended to serve as a fundamental and methodical guide for those working in the pharmaceutical health care system. The book reflects the knowledge about the drug treatment of diseases, which is adapted to the needs of the pharmacist in order to ensure his competent professional participation in the treatment process. Opportunities have been created for mastering knowledge necessary for pharmacological control of the disease, assessment of the rationality of drug therapy and realistic assessment of the outcome of treatment. With this knowledge, pharmacists can competently participate in the monitoring of the disease process. On the basis of this knowledge, the master-pharmacist can quickly orient himself to the extent of the achieved therapeutic effect and define the balance between the unwanted effects of the drugs and the desired favorable and optimal therapeutic result. The proposed case studies for the treatment of patients with various diseases and syndromes (presented in the Appendix) simulate typical clinical cases and are designed to create analytical and practical skills for problem-oriented solving of the therapeutic problem.
In the book "Pharmacotherapy" we consider the general characteristics of the pathological syndrome, its pathogenetic essence and etiological factors. On this basis, the guidelines for treatment and the possibilities of achieving a therapeutic effect under the relevant pathophysiological conditions of the body are outlined. In this regard, the advantages of certain drugs are analyzed - as drugs of choice, as well as their alternative variants in the specific disease. The therapeutic regimens or drug combinations that achieve the optimal therapeutic result are discussed. Fundamental and practical issues of drug treatment are examined, which allows the pharmacist to orient precisely and quickly to the choice, suitability and safety of drug therapy.
The content of this book is built on the curriculum of pharmacotherapy for pharmacy students and those specializing in the "Clinical Pharmacy" profile. It is closely related to the textbook "Fundamentals of Clinical Medicine" for pharmacists. of Prof. Zahariy Krastev.
