The introduction of peritoneal dialysis allowed many patients to choose a treatment method without dependence on equipment and to improve their quality of life. In recent years, the implementation of permanent vascular access has become a branch of vascular surgery - shunt surgery, which requires a lot of knowledge, great experience, as well as infinite patience.
The present work reflects over 25 years of the author's experience, evaluating the introduced new and updating the existing methods for constructing temporary and permanent SD. The results of over 3,500 operations performed by the author are summarized.
Indications and contraindications, techniques for creating different types of diabetes, complications and ways to prevent and treat them are clarified.
The advantages and disadvantages of peritoneal dialysis and its surgical ones are described complications.
