Neurobiological foundations of human behavior
"Neurobiological basics of child development" is a reprint of Prof. Boryana Pireva's third book, intended for psychology students (2008). The first two are "Biological Psychology" (2000) and "Behavioral Medicine" (2004). As an author, B. Pireva shows an accessible and, at the same time, sustained scientific approach when presenting texts in the field of neurobiology. The book is intended for students, but it looks more like a monograph because it is used modern literature from internationally recognized journals. In the style of good modern textbooks, research results are presented in special boxes that give an idea of the methodology of scientific developments. These are short retellings of research papers on important key issues, written in an extremely accessible way for any readership. In the book, the important problems for psychologists, dating back too long ago - for the innate-acquired attitude, are represented.
The book presents:
Information on the neurobiological foundations of child development;
The understanding of the importance of prenatal development and the conditions in which early childhood takes place, cognitive processes, language development, the personal development of a person;
The relationship between hereditary factors and the influence of the environment on child development;
Behavioral aspects of development and some behavioral deviations;
The most common congenital and hereditary diseases and the importance of factors and environment in overcoming hereditary predispositions.
The book is suitable for young and future parents who want to know about possible genetics complications to their child, explained in a uniquely easy and understandable language.
The book was officially presented by Prof. Encho Gerganov at the NBU bookstore on Malyovitsa Street on April 2, 2008.
