General histology
The textbook is intended for students of various majors in the Faculty of Biology of Plovdiv University "Paisiy Hilendarski". It includes a total of 13 sections in which topics from the general curriculum are developed histology.
A textbook of general histology gives valuable information on the general principles in the structure, functions and origin of the tissue types that make up the body of multicellular animals and man, as well as on some elements of comparative and special histology. Information is also provided on some varieties of the main tissue types with their morphological and physiological features.
We hope that for biology students, this textbook will be useful in mastering the necessary knowledge about the normal functional morphology of tissues, which will be useful for their understanding of related scientific disciplines, such as special histology, embryology, physiology, biochemistry, etc., and that it will support the assimilation and systematization of modern knowledge in the field of general histology. The textbook can also be used by students of related majors at other universities, as long as histology falls within the scope of their curricula, as well as in the interests of the learners.

General Histology is a fundamental medical textbook that focuses on the structure and function of tissues in the human body. This textbook provides a comprehensive understanding of cellular components, tissue organization, and their roles in maintaining the health and functioning of the body.
The beginning of the textbook covers basic concepts in the field of histology, including cell structure and function, cell connections, and tissue organization. Historical aspects and methods of tissue research are presented here, as well as general principles for the preparation and analysis of tissue preparations.
The following sections of the textbook focus on the different types of tissue in the human body. For each of them, the main characteristics, structure, functions and important aspects of their morphology are considered. Tissues considered include epithelial, connective, muscle, and nerve tissues, as well as specialized tissues such as blood, bone, and cartilage tissues.
An important aspect of the textbook is devoted to the relationship between the structure and functions of different types of tissue. The authors present the relationship between cellular components, tissue organization, and tissue specialization, emphasizing the importance of their contribution to the maintenance of health and the functioning of the organism.
In addition, the textbook provides information on the various pathological conditions and diseases that affect different types of tissues. The authors examine the pathological changes in cellular structure and organization, as well as the possible consequences for the functions of the affected tissues and organs.
General Histology is a valuable source of information for students and professionals in the fields of medicine and biology seeking a detailed understanding of the structure and function of tissues in the human body. This textbook provides extensive and up-to-date information essential to understanding the basic principles of cell biology and pathology.
